WSMV – News Channel 4 Nashville “Flooded School Gets Reality Makeover.”
Special thanks to Dale McCarver and all the KSES students, teachers, and parents involved in the making of “Once in a Thousand Years.” (audition video submitted to NBC’s School Pride.)
The production team for NBC’s School Pride has arrived in Kingston Springs to makeover Kingston Springs Elementary School which sustained devastating damage during the May 2010 flood.
On-site work and filming of the inspiring documentary-style show begins tomorrow, Thursday, July 22.
Due to an unprecedented outpouring of goodwill from members of the community and far beyond, all volunteer positions have been filled at this time.
School Pride is a closed set, and only registered volunteers will be allowed on site.
From the School Pride volunteer confirmation email:
Once you arrive at the school, please park in the designated volunteer parking area. You will then walk to the volunteer check-in tent, which will be clearly marked with a sign. Volunteers will sign an appearance release, receive a t-shirt, and a wristband at the check-in tent.
Please remember the school’s property will be a construction site for the duration of the renovation. Therefore, proper dress is required – closed-toe shoes are a must. Volunteer duties will vary depending on the needs of production, construction, design, and locations.
One meal will be provided for each volunteer per 6 hour shift in the catering tent.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, or accompanied with a parent/guardian while volunteering. No one under 12 years of age will be permitted on the property unless they are a Kingston Springs Elementary student. We appreciate your time and look forward to seeing you during your scheduled shift(s).
**A quick reply to this email will allow us to confirm you for the scheduled dates.**
- The designated volunteer parking area is Harpeth High School. Shuttles will run between HHS and KSES. There is no parking available at KSES.
- The t-shirt you receive at the volunteer check-in tent must be worn for all shifts. Only 1 t-shirt will be issued per volunteer. If you are volunteering more than one day please remember to wear your t-shirt each time. New wristbands will be issued each day.
- Skilled labors are asked to bring the tools of their trade.
- As stated above, please remember this is a construction site. Proper dress and footwear is required. “closed-toe shoes are a must.”
- There is a no-camera policy on set. Please leave your personal cameras at home. No photography will be permitted.
